Do we have to use your recommended photographer?
No. We’re happy to share a recommendation if you want a head start, but there’s no requirement and no venue fee tied to your choice.
What are the best photo spots at Red Rocks Barn?
Outdoors: Mountain backdrops, wide open spaces, rustic whiskey barrels, antique farm machinery, and natural greenery.
Indoors: Bright, climate-controlled spaces with rustic textures and workable natural light.
There are many light-friendly spots at the barn.
When is the best time for photos (golden hour, etc.)?
Golden hour (about 60–90 minutes before sunset) is magic here. Sunrise can also be gorgeous and quiet.
What if it rains or the wind kicks up?
We’ve got covered areas and indoor options ready to go. Your photographer can pivot seamlessly, and we’ll help relocate décor/props so your look stays consistent.
Can we bring our own décor or photo props?
Absolutely. Please use non-damaging methods (no nails/screws; removable hooks or free-standing pieces). No open flames (LED candles are great). Glitter/confetti are a no indoors. Large installs (25+ lbs) just need prior approval.
What access and amenities do photographers get day-of?
Load-in/out: Easy parking and ground-level access
Power: Outlets near common photo spots for lights/chargers
Staging: Many prep areas
Mobility: Free movement between pre-cleared indoor/outdoor locations during your rental window

Do you allow drone photography?
Yes, with a licensed/insured pilot who follows FAA rules and local ordinances. Safety first: no flights directly over guests, maintain line of sight, and observe quiet hours. Weather/wind may limit use.
Any restrictions during the ceremony (flash, movement, angles)?
We’re flexible and photographer-friendly. Typical best practices we encourage:
Minimal aisle blocking and quiet shutters during vows
No flash during the most intimate moments (unless your officiant/couple approve)
Use side aisles/perimeter and longer lenses for discretion
If you have a specific shot list, we’ll help map positions in advance.
How much time should we budget for portraits?
General guide (adjust to taste):
First look & couple portraits: 30–45 min
Wedding party: 30 min
Family groupings: 30 min
Sunset/Couple golden hour: 15–20 min
Build a 10–15 min buffer and we’ll keep transitions tight so you stay on schedule.
Who handles photo permissions, insurance?
Permissions: Your contract with us includes permission to photograph on site during your rental window.
Insurance: We recommend your photographer carry liability insurance (COI available on request).
